課程概述 |
本課程介紹人類學中經常用到的統計方法，例如樣本群的比較和卡方檢驗等，幫助同學適當取樣、處理遺失值及對資料做有系統的整理，並進一步分析產生有用的資訊；對於理解社會科學論文中常見的統計分析也能有所幫助。強調適當的統計方法是讓隱藏在大量資料背後的模式更加清楚，而非利用複雜的公式使人混淆。因此本課程的修習，不需具備特殊的數理背景。
課程將循序漸進介紹統計方法的原理、邏輯和技巧，除了就每個主題介紹在考古上應用的實例，也檢討一些應用不當的例子。同學將藉由實際操作電腦統計軟體學習熟悉這些方法，作業內容也是以實際的考古材料為例。期末同學將能以實際的田野觀察所得或日常生活中的數據，設計自己的研究步驟。 |

課程目標 |
同學能夠逐漸熟悉數據收集的方式、操作至少一種統計應用軟體，將來處理自己的材料時，知道如何選擇合適的統計分析方法；並理解其他相關研究中所使用的統計技巧。 |

課程要求 |
人類學相關科系學士班三年級以上，希望運用統計方法於研究或論文寫作的同學，無統計基礎可，上課請自備筆記型電腦。 |
